February is the month of the International Quilt fair at Llangollen. The quilt pictured above is from last year's Fair, and was made by a member of a French quilting group. It reminds me of Susan Hill's "The Magic Apple Tree",
Just the other side of Llangollen is a small church at Llantysilio where the churchyard is completely smothered in snowdrops at this time of the year. So a happy day in Llangollen means a visit to the quilt fair followed by a visit to this church to enjoy the snowdrops. The church also has a special snowdrop service each year.
There are other good things about February: light is returning rapidly, it's still light at half past six in the evening and I rejoice!
Plus I have just been Highly Commended in the Slipstream Open Poetry Competition. And my friend Pat Borthwick won it!
All good stuff.
Well done for chalking up another competition placing! Your blog is ever so uplifting - I meant to say so sooner. The light IS returning!

ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased you find this blog uplifting -it's not a very well known blog as I haven't really promoted it, just enjoyed the sheer pleasure of writing it!
